Peter Sparling Dance Company Celebrates Anniversary with “A Decade of Dance: The PSDC Summer Reunion Revue”




Ann Arbor, MI July 13, 2004 -- With ten exciting seasons and 18 new dance works under its belt, the Peter Sparling Dance Company (PSDC), Michigan’s premier modern dance company, has reason to celebrate. Ann Arbor's only not-for-profit professional dance company--known for its unique blend of modern dance tradition and interdisciplinary innovation—invites you to “A Decade of Dance: The PSDC Summer Reunion Revue” on August 19-22nd as part of Performance Network's Treetown Festival at 120 East Huron, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The reunion features the PSDC repertory, current members and returning alumni in an evening of performance highlights from ten years of dances.

Peter Sparling, PSDC Artistic Director, will emcee the evening’s performances covering "Travelogue" (1994) to the highly-acclaimed, "Peninsula," (2004) a new piece which combines live modern dance, original music by noted local composer, Frank Pahl, and the latest in video backdrop technology.

You won’t want to miss this commemorative reunion of dance with performances August 19th-22nd at 8:00 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Single ticket prices are $27.50, and there is a $3.00 discount for seniors. One-half student rush tickets will be offered one hour before curtain, if available. Thursday performances are “Pay-What-You-Can”. For tickets, please call (734) 663-0681. Box Office hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and one hour before all performances.

Dance Gallery Foundation was established in 1984 and supports Dance Gallery Studio, the only non-profit dance center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Peter Sparling, a prolific and internationally-respected dancer and choreographer, serves as artistic director, creating, premiering and touring works off original choreography annually with his seven-member company. A former principal dancer with the legendary Martha Graham and José Limón companies, Sparling has over thirty years of professional dance and choreography experience. He is also a tenured professor of dance at the University of Michigan and a leader in the area’s arts and cultural community.
