Energy 92.7/101.1, Arizona's Dance Radio, Brings in Cutting-Edge Program Director to Lead Energy Radio Mike Oaks, an Internet Radio Pioneer and Seasoned Radio Veteran, Brings His Vision to Arizona Dance Radio

Scottsdale, AZ May 6, 2004 -– Prior to coming to Phoenix, Oaks was at the top-rated station in Oregon, 1190 KEX News Radio. While at KEX, Oaks nurtured his creative, musical side by starting Energy 98.1, an Internet-based dance radio station.

“I am excited about the opportunity to take Energy Radio to a new level,” said Mike Oaks, programming director, Energy 92.7/101.1. “This station has so much potential and exciting on-air personalities, that it is time to capitalize on it and get everyone in Phoenix on their feet dancing to Energy Radio.”

Oaks began his radio career at the age of fourteen when he became an intern at a local Oregon station. The internship led to a full-time job a year later, where Oaks was responsible for the weekend broadcasts. At the age of eighteen, Oaks joined the Army and spent two years at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and then spent two years at various radio stations in the Sierra Vista, Arizona market. After finishing his tour of duty, Oaks returned home to Southern Oregon where he spent 10 years working at the local ABC television station producing news for the number one news station. While working at the ABC affiliate, Oaks continued to work in radio for a variety of stations in the Medford-Ashland, Oregon area, including K97, KBOY, KYJC, KZZE and KKJJ – ranging from classic rock to rock to dance music.

“Mike is a dedicated professional who is passionate about programming dance radio, as was evident in his groundbreaking Internet-radio station,” said Michael Mallace, General Manager, Sierra H Broadcasting. “We are excited to have him help us grow the Energy brand in Phoenix and throughout Arizona.”
