An Evening With Rev. Ruby Reeves, jitterburg historian, dance poet, entertainer swing style at the New Amsterdam Music Assn.

April 2, 2004 -- Rev. Ruby Reeves, the grandmother jitterbug historian entertains and hosts an evening of dance, dance poetry and swing era history on April 17,2004 This is taking place at the New Amsterdam Music Alliance, 107 W. 130 St.NYC at 7:30pm. Live music.
Door contribution is $5.

An evening with Ruby Reeaves is the opening event from National Dance Week, which in fact lasts from April 23rd to May 2. Plus there is James Brown's birthday on May 3rd, where the public can visit a small memorabilia display on the 2nd floor Art Gallery of the Harlem State Office building, 163rd W. 125th St.

For more information on the events of National Dance Week, which includes free dance lessons, lessons at the Cotton Club and SOB's, International Dance Day, video screenings, dance ancestor observance at the NY African Burial Grounds and www.AngelinaBallerina.com.

Also during that period the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center is hosting the exhibit on Balanchine until April 24th. Plus the is a special feature of an Afternoon with Katherine Dunham and film screening at the library on May 2nd.

There are dance book displays at Hueman Book Store and Uptown Sisters' Bookstore in Harlem, plus Nubian Heritage department stores are also displaying dance books in Queens and Brooklyn.
